Ingredients
Serving:
Makes 4 large buns
- 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
- 3 tsp sugar divided
- 1 tsp (5ml) dry active yeast
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup (60ml) softened butter
Steps
Heat the milk for 25 seconds in the microwave, then let it cool for a few seconds, add 1 tsp of the sugar, mix then add the yeast and milk mixture and set aside until frothy.
In a bowl, sift the flour, add remaining 2 tsp of sugar and salt. Mix together. Add the eggs and the frothy milk and yeast mixture and mix until it forms a sticky dough. Now add in the butter and knead until the dough is smooth. Cover and set aside in a warm location to rise for an hour.
Once risen, knock down and divide into 4 equal pieces, roll them into balls and place spread apart on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Let them rise for another hour. Once risen, brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds.
Bake for 22-25 minutes (depending on the heat of your oven) at 180 degrees. Enjoy!
